On Fellowship:
Above all else we are a group of friends and hold
loyalty to be our highest value. Prowess and ability
are secondary considerations. After all it profits us
nothing for new members to have all the talent in the
game if their presence causes an undue amount of
strife. This is not to say that we do not have
standards, merely that ability alone is not enough to
warrant membership. As friends our members are
expected to assist one another when ever possible. If
one of us has a problem, we all have a problem. If one
of us has a goal, then the others will offer that
person all possible assistance in reaching it. It’s
that simple. There should not be a point where one of
us should have to reconcile another member’s actions
with the concept of friendship.
On Amtgard:
Amgard is unique. It is not quite a sport, and bears
only superficial resemblance to more traditional LARPS
such as the Camarilla and NERO. We do not record XP,
have no game mechanic beyond physics, and play the
same “personas” for years on end. It is probably more
accurate to say that Amtgarders do not have characters
so much as aliases. Since the thin veneer of playing a
“character” does not exist relationships in Amtgard
are just as real as they would be in any other
setting. All of this makes for a very different
dynamic that one might expect. On the field, we
believe that Amtgard is a sport. Off the field Amtgard
is very much a social organization. We enjoy both
elements and it is our intention to try and bridge
these two extremes. To this end we wish to foster
sportsmanship and fair play on the field, and
friendship and camaraderie during those times when we
are not actually competing.
